email address sold to spammers?

The email addy i used to sign up with this site now gets a hell of a lot of spam emails,where it never used to before i becam a member.
Having read some of the other threads in this forum IMHO this site,altho some people have had some success,is just a way of making money by selling email address to spamwhores,any 1 else think this is the case?

I wouldn't be so sure. I had a few unwanted E-mails the other month, I think its just other linked sites doing a sift and hitting single guys. Whilst they all thought I was the hottest thing that walked the earth (instant warning bells!), if you carefully check the grammar, they were from the USA!

So try mailing back, correcting their spelling mistakes, i.e. colour, not color! Worked for me!

I also had this spam, but due to the way I organize my emails I know was not from site admin . I think it was from people with fake profiles that old chestnut again. I also noticed that some of the possible profiles had been deleted?

Mind I just deleted mine did not think of giving them the English lesson nice one.

Hi there,

there's a couple of points to be answered in this i think,

the first one being 'do we sell your data to outside companies'? the answer to that is no, we haven't ever sold any of our members to data to a 3rd party and have no plans to do so.

The second question was 'do we delete spammers as we find' them, the answer, yes we do. We are generally made aware by a member of the site if they feel they have received a spam email, we will look into the merits of the claim and if we too feel that the member has been subject to spamming, we will remove the spammers profile and delete all the messages.
