This was 2022 i am as healthy as I will be.
I'll tell the whole story here so there doesnt need to be a lot of traffic about me.
First ...I'm alive. I will recover, my current "ANTICIPATED" discharge date is Thursday May 22. It is expected that I will recuperate at home for at least 8 weeks. Of course the woman who hit me only has minimum insurance.
On 12 Apr. I was riding my bicycle home from work. there was / is no bicycle lane on the road I was on, so I was riding on the sidewalk. I came to an intersection, where the traffic to my left had a stop sign. I made eye contact with the driver, or thought I had. She looked down at her phone then to her left and as there were no cars comming from her left she accelerated right into me. The inpact threw me 20 to 30 feet into the first traffic lane and almost to the second traffic lane.
Bistandars kept me shielded on the ground until the local fire department arived with the ambulance. They transported me to the ER where I was found to have several broken ribs and a broken tibia [leg] along with various cuts bruses and abrasions commenly refered to by the motorcycle community as road rash. I unfortunatly being on a pedal bike was wearing spandex not leather, so the road rash coverage was wide spread.
Most of the road rash has healed. and I am now in rehab. It is not comfortable but I have, for the most part, regained the use of my left arm. Rib breaks take a long time to heal as not only is the diaphram attached to the rib but also some of the mussles that control the arm.
