The Lowdown On Steak and BJ: Raring To Go or Well Done

    The mushy times of Valentine's are long gone. Gestures of flowers, chocolates and giant teddy bears are so last month! Now we come to man's favourite event of the year. That's right, March 14th is Steak and Blowjob Day, and we are celebrating all week!

    It is rumoured that this holiday was created by Rhode Island disc jockey, Tom Birdsey, who had a brainwave one day that men should be compensated for their extra efforts on Valentine's Day (So...what do men like best? Fillet and fellatio of course! And thus Steak and Blowjob Day was born.

    So, while you might have trouble finding a card for it at your local card shop, and you most likely won’t be seeing Steak + BJ Day being turned into a national bank holiday anytime soon, we have 8 tips on how to give your playmates meat a tender treat ;)

    1: Sensitive Areas

    • Tenderloin filet
    • Coarse sea salt and ground black pepper
    • Butter
    • Garlic clove, skin-on and crushed
    • Sprig of thyme

    1. Take the steaks out of the fridge 2 hours before you plan to cook them, and allow them to come to room temperature.
    2. Heat a heavy-based griddle pan or frying pan over medium-high heat. Pat the steaks dry with kitchen towel. Spread a thin layer of salt and a sprinkle of course pepper on a plate. Put the steak on the plate, and turn to coat the steak lightly, then put it flat-side down into the pan. Cook for 90 seconds on each side, pressing down with a spatula, until both sides are well browned.
    3. Add the butter, garlic and thyme to the pan and, when melted, use them for basting the steak, turning it every minute until it’s done to your liking. 2-3 minutes per side for Rare, 4-5 minutes per side for Medium-rare, 5-6 minutes per side for Medium and 7-8 minutes per side for well-done.
    4. Take out of the pan and leave somewhere warm to rest for 5-10 minutes, then serve.
